Ｆａｌｔｉｎｓｅｎ教授の特別講義のお知らせ

船舶流体力学で著名なFaltinsen教授が最近出版した教科書 (Hydrodynamics of High-Speed Marine Vehicles) の紹介を兼ねて，下記のように特別講義が企画されております。各種の高速船について流体力学的な諸問題を，２日半をかけてじっくり具体的に解説してくれることになっており，写真や図を多く使って学生にも十分に理解できる内容だと聞いています。主催は，日本船舶海洋工学会西部支部性能研究交流会として準備していますが，参加は所属支部には関係なく，どなたでも参加できますので，ご興味のある方は奮ってご参加下さい。

日時 2005年12/12日（月曜日）〜14日（水曜日正午まで） 場所 九州大学筑紫地区（総合研究棟１階大ホール） （通称 C-CUBE，付属図書館筑紫分館と同じ建物） http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/map/campusmap/chikushi/chikushi.html 主催 日本船舶海洋工学会西部支部　性能研究交流会第２回例会 講演者 Professor Odd Faltinsen Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway Hydrodynamics of High-Speed Marine Vehicles Professor Odd Faltinsen published from Cambridge University Press My lectures will deal with air cushion supported vessels, hydrofoil vessels, semi displacement vessels and planing vessels. All hydrodynamic aspects will be discussed, that means the resistance, wash, propulsion, seakeeping, sea loads, dynamic stability and maneuvering. Emphasis is also on the coupling with structural mechanics and automatic control from a hydrodynamic point of view. The different types of vessels have very different physical features. This makes high-speed vessels a fascinating topic to study and makes it important to have a basic understanding of fluid dynamics. For instance, for an air cushion supported vessel, the dynamics of the air cushion is important. Cavitation is a limiting factor for the performance. However, the emphasis is on sub-cavitating conditions.
