JASNAOE requests the submission of papers for the Meeting's general sessions and organized sessions (OS) listed below. For the general sessions, submissions are limited to previously unpublished papers on shipbuilding, naval architecture, ocean engineering, and other maritime-related topics.
(Papers that have just been published in the most recent Journal of JASNAOE or the Journal of Marine Science and Technology will be considered unpublished and therefore can be submitted for consideration.)

submitting papers
Deadline for applications | February 25, 2013 (Mon) (strictly enforced) |
Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance | March 8, 2013 (Fri) |
Deadline for the submission of papers | April 12, 2013 (Fri) (strictly enforced) |
Fee for submitting papers | Free of charge |
Note 1: | The reception server will be extremely busy on the deadline days, and it may be difficult to connect to it; therefore, send errors may arise for registration information submitted at these times. Applications for which the server has no record of a confirmed receipt (namely, applications for which an e-mail confirming receipt was not sent) cannot be processed in subsequent days; consequently, we recommend that you apply and submit your paper as early as possible and that you make sure that you have received a confirmation e-mail. |
Note 2: | While there is no charge to submit a paper, a fee will be charged for registering to attend the conference (including for speakers). For further details, please refer to “Fees for the Annual Meetings.” |
Paper applications, in principle, will only be accepted from members of JASNAOE. Applications from non-members, however, who wish to present a paper in an OS will be accepted. Multiple papers on the same topic with the same main title will not be accepted.
Based on the outlines of the papers, the Conference Committee will decide whether the application shall be accepted or not, and the applicant will be notified of the decision by e-mail. Once a paper has been accepted, it is then possible to present it either in a general session or in an organized session.
Even if an applicant chooses an OS, there may be cases where the paper cannot be given in the OS because of the conditions of the session. In that case, the application will be treated as having requested to be in a general session. Please be aware that in the event that a non-member requests an OS but this request cannot be met, it will not be possible to present the paper in a general session and therefore the application cannot be accepted.
On the JASNAOE home page, please access “Application for paper presentation” to apply.
The deadline for applications is February 25, 2013 (Mon).
Once your application procedure has been completed, you will be sent an application receipt number by e-mail. Please make sure to keep a record of this registration number, as you will need it to change any of the abovementioned registration information and also when you submit your paper. If it is difficult for you to apply online, please contact the Head Office of JASNAOE to discuss an alternative method.
Once accepted, please prepare a manuscript for your paper in accordance with the following guidelines.
- The Conference Proceedings will be A4-sized, and each paper will be from two (2) to four (4) pages in length. Figures and so forth may be in color, but the size of the file submitted must be no more than 2MB.
- Please prepare your manuscript in accordance with the “Writing Guidelines for Papers for the Spring Meeting 2013,” which can be accessed from JASNAOE homepage (in preparation). If you are using MS Word, please download and use the template provided on the JASNAOE homepage.
- In accordance with the JASNAOE copyright bylaws, the copyrights for the papers belong to JASNAOE. However, as the content of the papers is the responsibility of the original author(s), please make sure that it does not infringe on the copyrights of another party and does not include content that could be considered libelous.
In principle, the manuscripts are to be submitted as a digital PDF file. Please submit your manuscript via the Internet by going to “Submission of Papers for the Spring Meeting 2013” on the JASNAOE homepage. Manuscripts prepared in MS Word, TeX, or other formats should be converted to a PDF file before they are submitted. If there is a problem with the PDF file you have submitted, you may be subsequently contacted by the JASNAOE Head Office (or by Akita Kappan Printing Co., Ltd., which is responsible for printing the Conference Proceedings) and requested to submit the original file; therefore, please keep a copy of your manuscript document that you originally prepared in MS Word, TeX, or other format.
We cannot accept any requests for withdrawals or revisions once the submission deadline has passed; therefore, please review your manuscript very carefully before you submit it.
